I saw in a magazine a guy who had air quick disconnects on his Jeep sway bar connects. Anyone ever done this? I am looking for someone to do this for cheep or even free. I have the parts but no welder, I don't even know if you can weld them together. Maybe this should be in the technical section??

This is why I need them:
Best parking lot wheelin all year! Plenty articulation in rear, need that in front.

You looking for curb appeal,,,,, or actual working offroad wheeling traction....

They might still have some openings at the LHM show..

Do you have the stainless steel kind? Or the Brass kind? i'd get the Stainless or galvanized and Tig em together. it'd probabl y work pretty decently

Bootie-rific. It'd be way easier to weld up a proper set than try to get air disconnects to work. Besides, what you've got there is a YJ, and they don't need no steeenkin sway bars. Just take the thing off and forget about it.

The only thing on it that is "safety" is that one sway bar. All other hardware is gone. Springs and shocks are all that hold the axle on. I do some mild towing and drive it to school 3 times a week so I wanted something that won't sway a lot or pull me from lane to lane with larger tires on the freeway.

I wouldn't trust my swaybars to 3 ball bearings and a slip collar never designed to hold ~2000lbs of lateral load. A good set of discos are not hard to disconnect and reconnect unless you're limp wristed, so really what's the point of something so ghetto-fabbed?

So I take it that no one has done this before? I saw it in an issue of "4wheel drive and SUV" on a ZJ. The ZJ was zebra striped, anyone see the column? Maybe I will stop being such a cheepskate and buy some.

Yes, that's John Mesko's beast but his isn't exactly a daily driver. I've seen Z-shape draglinks and cinder block body lifts before, but that doesn't mean I'd trust that for my steering.

Remove the sway bar, put it in the shed out back just incase you want to put it back on. Thats what I did. I think mine is still in the shed in back of the house I lived in 15 years ago.

Bingo, I prefer to cheat death on the trail, not on the freeway.
