Something weird in the wood stove

My wife and kids told me yesterday afternoon that there was something making noise in the wood stove. I listened and didn't hear anything but they insisted there was something making noise in the stove. So I got a flashlight and opened up the door expecting to maybe find a wayward squirrel but what I found was a pigeon. I have no idea how it would have made it down the chimney and through the opening in the wood stove. Had to go get a small fish net and put it in the opening while I grabbed it (didn't want to have it flying around in the house). The net worked and I was able to let it go outside.

Parents found a wood duck in theirs one year. Seems like a risk to drop down something you can't see the bottom but birds work for the bourgeoisie...

Growing up we always had a fireplace. It seemed like once a season we would have a bat or bird come flying out and get soot everywhere
