WMP requires a plugin + nero to burn MP3 format.

Your better off just getting nero rip it and burn it.

I tried the WMP way could not get it to work only to find out that i needed nero -- but nero does it all.

I rip / burn via nero and use WMP for the playback.

Too bad you don't have iTunes or Roxio... I'm more familiar with those... but lemme see what I can find on WMP...

I actually miss my soundstream it works really well, but for compressing dvd's and having an all in one pushed me into nero.

I can help with the WMP you need to DL the MP3 plugin (reachable via WMP downloads link within WMP), but once DL'd and installed it will tell you that you will need nero burning rom.

I figured this out in an effort to decrease the amount of software that had installed on my laptop, guess what it did not work so now I have nero running.

the easiest way is to use iTunes. In your preferences you can choose to burn an MP3 CD, Data CD, or a Music CD...the MP3 CD or the Data CD would be the same and both would work. BTW, iTunes is free and there is no extra plug-ins needed. Its also, IMO, the best player out there...especially for ripping cds.
