so after a little joking discussion in the chit chat forum I have really been thinking.

WHAT IF.... I took my 1974 30' pace arrow motor home with the 440 and ripped the body off (It is toast anyhow) and put on a 03ish dodge crew cab? with the measurments I have found I figure I can put the cab on and with a 4' dove tail I could have a 23' deck. my cherokee is 13.5' long so that leaves about 10' of room (dune buggy/quads. ect...). what do you all think of this idea? I figure if I can get the cab from a diesel dow the road I can drop in a cummins and a 6speed and make an easy swap. So lets hear all the bads...

Well, for one, the chassis is going to be about 1-2 feet too wide, depending on the track of the motorhome. Just getting it bolted up and drivable would be a job. Getting all of it functioning, like speedo, lights, etc sounds like a huge pain.

if that doesn't work out, you can always turn it into a go cart. [repost]

I blame turbominivan for putting bad ideas in your head.

I'm imagining the big problem would be the placement of the motor. It seems like the cab would have to be really far back from the front of the frame. That being said, start cutting!

I think you answered your own question when you called it a dumb idea in the title....... This would be one of those abominations driving down the road that everyone would make fun of until you crash into a bus full of children

Buy a cab and chassis cummins 5500 with a long enough frame, put on a crew cab (if they only sell it as a regular cab) and sell the old cab. A lot less work and a lot better product.

I've learned that the amount of work in a project quickly adds up when trying to do it on a budget, you're better off spending more money and having a better starting platform.

With thy the amount of work you are asking to do, you could just start from scratch for less work.

Buy my freightliner and throw a couch with seat belts where the lower bunk is. Would be much easier and carry your load with ease. Not to mention, much cheaper in the end.
