Right now i have a standard 4 inch lift under my jeep YJ and 1.5 inch shackle lift and i can only fit 33's under it. would you recomend to convert to a spring over? What are some pro's and cons? i want to put 35's under it. where would be a good place to get the kit or do i even need a kit?

Thanks!

A spring over with your current 4" springs will be ridiculously high. A simple 1" body lift would give you the clearance you're looking for though...

Take a good hard look at what you're trying to get out of whichever lift kit. Spring overs let you use lower-lift springs, which are generally flexier, but they're not bolt-on and do require a bunch of work.

If all you're really needing is tire clearance, BCGPER's solution is simple, cheap, and easy.

The spring over will net you about 5" more than what you have now. Serious driveshaft issues unless you lower it back down with stock springs when you do the spring over.

A 4" Spring under lift and 1.5" shackles should give you about 4.75" of lift. That should be plenty to fit 35's on a YJ. All you really need is a sawzall and some TJ flares. If you dont want to scrub on your front fenders you can use some longer bumpstops or go with some Tube fenders. If you really feel like you have to lift it more, a 1" body lift will do the trick. A low center of gravity is your friend.

I rub with my 33's when i turn.. i already have tj flares. my problem now is my jeep rides so rough and doesnt flex at all so i was thinking about going with stock springs and a spring over or at least close to stock..

For what it's worth, I was at 4.5" of lift SUA on 33's and had a very well-performing rig for what I wanted out of it. I wanted to go to bigger tires (ultimately 37's) so I went SOA. It nickel and dimed me to death all just to get to 35's and lift me maybe one more inch to fit the larger tires. Now I'm still on the same wheelbase with a taller jeep, which means it's more unstable. I wish I could go back now and stay on 33's and SUA until I had all my ducks in a row and could go straight to 37's on D60's and a longer wheelbase. Now I'm on 35's with a D44 front/F8.8 rear. I spent WAY too much money for not much gain at all. If your plans are to stop at 35's, my opinion is to stay SUA and maybe invest in some better quality springs (Alcans?) for a better ride and flex and upgrade your axles to a D44 or F8.8 in the rear and some better shafts in the front. That combo would work well for someone who never plans to go bigger.

My two cents...
