Stacking Coil spacers?

Is it ok or not ok to stack coils spacers on a Cherokee? A kid I work with just bought a Cherokee that has a SkyJacker 6" long arm on it and the front has two one inch spaces stacked up.

Should he pull those out? I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea because it made the coils compress too much.

It's not the best idea but I don't think it will hurt anything. 2 1" spacers is one thing, but I can't say that stacking 2 2" spacers would be acceptable.

Hey Cody, do you think that having the spacers added in but not extending the bump-stops could hurt the coils in the long run?

I have heard that the pig tails on the coils can get crushed when using extra tall spacers.

I guess if you over compress and extend the coil a lot it will cause it to fatigue and sag prematurely, although I don't think I would worry about it.

Ok, I know that this is a little off topic, but what is the deal with the SkyJacker lifts for the Cherokee's? The lift has only been on for like 1 year and ALL of the hiems make A LOT of noise. Even the steering link hiems have A LOT of play in them.

thats a heim for ya...the real high quality ones will last a little longer but they al start making noise, I'd say within the first 1.5 yrs...:p

and on the stacking spacers...some are made so that you can stack them some are not made to stack...FWIW:p

OK, so hiem's make noise, but how much play should there be? Because his steering feels like it is detached from the rest of the vehicle.

he should prolly replace them if they are that loose...as heilms wear they get more and more play untill they fall apart...

Heims are a generally bad idea for a DD rig. I though about going heims when I went SOA and recieved a resounding NO from everyone I talked to. So I went with 3/4 chevy TREs. No problems to speak of.

Thanks for all the input guys, one more ?

Does the Skyjacker steering set-up for the Cherokee's use new knuckles, I looked at them but they looked different than anything I had seen.
