Stacks

Here is the question. How many of y'all have any experience with stacks on a Diesel truck? What did you like or dislike about them? Are they any louder than a four inch straight piped Diesel? I am looking at installing them on my Cummins and am needing some answers. I am currently looking at a set from Black Cloud Diesel that are the 7" Bullhaulers. Tell me what you think.

Here is a link to what I am talking about. http://www.blackclouddiesel.com/Stacks/bullhaulerstackpics.htm

Well it depends are you constintally towing? Does your trailer get stained black from the exhuast? If not then why would you put something like that on a perfectly good truck?

hmmm two 7" exhaust pipes coming up through the bed. Loss of bed space, resale limited to people that don't think they are gay. Does the snow/rain just collect in them?

Maybe it's just me but I would just hang an extra pair of truck nuts and forget about the stacks. :hickey:

Hmmmm

That's got it all.

Poorly tuned combustion.
Manly prehistoric beast horns.
Huge stacks, just like a big rig!

Missing the 22's and the lift.

Yes, there is usually a trailer on the back of my rig. Yes, the trailers are getting a quite black from the exhaust. My rig is always black on the dually fender flairs and that is what is really bothering me. I wash my rig about twice a month and in just one day of hauling the black marks are right back on it. I really like that fact that everytime I crack the throttle I am leaving a huge, black, cloud behind me. But, I don't think that the other motorists have the same apprication for the black cloud that I do. I have turned up the waste gate on the turbo and I am able to push about 50 pounds of boost. I have also installed an ATS Diesel Arc Flow intake with a Stage 2 CAI from AFE. The dual exhaust is from MBRP and is four inch and T-304 stainless steel. To go with all these parts I also installed a Smarty and custom tuned it myself. I am wanting to get into sled pulling here and one of the rules states that the exhaust needs to exit in a verticle fassion. I think that this must be for the crowd.

Just remember that black smoke=unburnt fuel. You're going to have that to some extent with a puller but to me, that's a sign of a bad tune on a street truck.

Gives greenies more ammo, too, which I hate. :D

If that is the reason for wanting/needing stacks, then I guess there is no way around it. If it is because of the black on the truck, wash it more than twice a month, direct the exhaust down more, and try to tune it a bit better and dont floor it everywhere.

Basically, I agree with everyone else one here though.

Stacks are gay

"especially on six-cylinder trucks"

Big clouds of black smoke are gay. Nobody likes to drive through that crap after your truck pukes all of it's unburned fuel out.
