I like stacks... And Pabst Blue Ribbon... :ugh:

Yes stacks are gay 90.5% of the time, but there are a select few trucks I've seen that look pretty good with them. They have to fit the truck, not be huge, and not stick up past the cab 5 feet.

That being said you have to be a very secure person if you plan on running them.

Yes, there is usually a trailer on the back of my rig. Yes, the trailers are getting a quite black from the exhaust. My rig is always black on the dually fender flairs and that is what is really bothering me. I wash my rig about twice a month and in just one day of hauling the black marks are right back on it. I really like that fact that everytime I crack the throttle I am leaving a huge, black, cloud behind me. But, I don't think that the other motorists have the same apprication for the black cloud that I do. I have turned up the waste gate on the turbo and I am able to push about 50 pounds of boost. I have also installed an ATS Diesel Arc Flow intake with a Stage 2 CAI from AFE. The dual exhaust is from MBRP and is four inch and T-304 stainless steel. To go with all these parts I also installed a Smarty and custom tuned it myself. I am wanting to get into sled pulling here and one of the rules states that the exhaust needs to exit in a verticle fassion. I think that this must be for the crowd.

I also had the soot problem on my dually fenders, I fixed the problem by selling the chip. You might want to reconsider turning that nice truck into a pulling truck cause it will destroy it. A first gen Dodge on the other hand would be a cheaper way to get into pulling and a hood stack would be cool, if it could muster up the power to blow some smoke.

PS, I am not a fan of unburnt 3.69 a gallon fuel.

In my most humble, professional opinion, THEY ARE GAY!!!!!

Unless you are going to pull sleds as a career, you don't need them, you can put on a turn down tip to keep the soot from the trailor, you won't waste bed space, and black smoke is not cool.
But, if you decide to go with them, can I make a request, put a "wrangler butts drive me nuts" sticker across the windshield. with a rebel flag flappin in the breeze between the stacks.

For now I am going to be doing two things to the truck right away. First, I need to replace the clutch with a South Bend OFE (maybe something different). Second, I am going to look at some turbos and see if I can get the fuel "cleaned up" just a little. I am currently trying to decide between the ATS Diesel Aurora 3000 or going with the twins that ATS Diesel offers (Aurora 3000 and the 5000). After these two modifications I will make another trip back to the dyno and see what that gets me. I would like to have some where between 600 and 700 hp and 1100 and 1300 foot pounds of torque. The stacks may still go on if I cannot clean up the fuel with theses couple of modifications. There will be no going back as far as hp and tq goes. No selling of my programer, sticks, nothing. The tow rig is just as much of a play toy as the beater. Besides, I can get up to 24.0 mpg (while at highway speeds) and while putting out 525 hp and 1070 foot pounds of torque (dyno proven).

I suspect that most don't like the stacks because of the nature of this forum. The forum is off road based. I have learned from this forum and, in some cases, have been able to apply it to my own off road rig. I posted this same question on two diesel performance forums and got nothing but possitive feedback (except for the interior noise). I don't really like giving up any bed space becasue this rig does serve as a multi-purpose rig. However if I start getting into pulling more then I will have to consider it. But for now, it will stay the way it is.

Thanks for all the replies y'all.

With the 3000 and 5000 compound your going to be well into the 700 HP range--probably higher if tuned right :D At that point I'd probably look at fire rings and 14mm studs ;) The Aurora 5000 is a MONSTER!

Studs are already done. I did that as soon as I decided to turn up the truck. I should have had the fore sight to have the head done at that time. Stupid me... The reason I am looking at the compounds is so that I can have both a daily driver and a puller at the same time. After talking to the folks at ATS Diesel they gave me the impression that the twins was the way to go. Monster boost when I wanted and a rig that was still drivable when needed. Of the folks that I have been in contact with ATS was by far the most helpful. I plan on spending more money with them. The Cummins motor is real easy to get where I am at now. Getting the Cummins to 700 hp or more sure does take a lot of homework, and some well thought out planning. To get to the 700 hp mark I may need some NO2 and/or a water/meth kit. The water/meth kit I may end up doing anyways. I am not sure if I want that much hp but the torque sure would be nice.

I don't like stacks because they are pure fashion on a driver. The kind of fashion that says "I like truck stops, if you know what I mean". And race trucks belong on the track. Plus, two stacks on an inline six, again-- fashion not function.

Not really the nature of this board LOL

I also believe strongly in personal choice and freedom to exercise that choice, so... it's your money. And your Ramcharger offsets a little bit of the gay, you might end up alright in all of this.
