Well we picked up an 87 Dakota for cheap. Ordered the complete engine rebuild kit today with new pistons/rings, cam, rod/main bearings the works. Roll cage is going in the end of this month. Took the 35s off my XJ to see how it will look. (Gotta trim the fenders of course ) Here's a few pics of the tear down we started Saturday. Oh and the reason the truck is leaning in the one pic is we had 35s on one side and stock on the other so you can get a feel for how much just changing tires improves the height. Also we have half the truck painted, but finished up at 6:30 in the morning and were too tired for photos of that. Hope to finish the painting this weekend.

We are supposed to work on it this weekend. I'm thinking Sunday because my friend might be helping his brother move Saturday. I'll let you know.

Per class rules we can't have any suspension upgrades; have to run all stock. Gonna cut the fenders and see if it'll clear cause again per rules we can only cut 2 inches out. The rears will be fine with the 2 inch cut. It's the front I'm worried about clearing lock to lock

Got a bunch done last night. Body is all painted. Emissions and AC removed. We seem to work until 6am everytime  Gonna cut up the fenders today and hopefully get some pics in the sun.

Little bit of an update with some pics. We decided to go with 33s instead of 35s because of the clearance issues in front. Cutting out the 2 inches allowed puts us right at the firewall and we could crank the torsion bars but still may have a problem. 33s are fine  The motor rebuild kit arrived complete with pistons, rings, cam, all bearing, oil pump, plugs, timing set, etc. Now with this we are gonna run the stock setup til she blows or loses power. After removing all the emissions and A/C crap it actually has a decent amount of power and weighing about 500 lbs less gutted didn't hurt either :D Tape is showing the cut lines for the fenders. Still haven't had time to get em cut out.

Here's a couple of pics of her dirty. Flat black with gloss rally stripes. Bed and interior will be done in truck bed liner. Roll cage was supposed to go in two weeks from now, but the EX was bitchin about money so I helped her out for the kids sake. Should be going in the end of April now.

Wondered why the right front wobbled so bad driving on the freeway
