I am needing some stock rear leaf springs for my solid axle conversion on my sidekick, if anyone has some either for cheap or free please let me know.

would prefer from 90-94 years but anything after 86 would work.

I have no clue how you plan to set up your suspension.

Here's some info about toyota springs (from the Toyota Bible 2.0 on Pirate)

79-85 Toyota front
Flat length = 45"
Front Half = 22.5"
Rear Half = 22.5"
Width = 2.36"
Front Eyelet = 18mm ID
Rear Eyelet = 18mm ID

79-83 Toyota Rear
Flat length = 48"
Front Half = 21.125"
Rear Half = 26.875"
Width = 2.36"
Front Eyelet = 18mm ID
Rear Eyelet = 18mm ID

84-88 Toyota Rear
Flat length = 48"
Front Half = 20.5"
Rear Half = 27.5"
Width = 2.36"
Front Eyelet = 14mm ID
Rear Eyelet = 18mm ID

89-95 Toyota Rear
Flat length = 51"
Front Half = 21.5"
Rear Half = 29.5"
Width = 2.36"
Front Eyelet = 14mm ID
Rear Eyelet = 18mm ID

You don't want to hear my opinion :D

Most people are referring to the '79-88 springs when they do a RUF (rears up front). Read the entire RUF thread on Pirate and you'll know the difference by the end. The 89-95 springs are longer and flexier.

How are you planning on doing your SAS? Are you eyeballing the dimensions, or are you copying what someone else did, or are you having a shop do it for you?

not what you want to hear, but you're my friend and I want to help. :)

In my opinion, you should keep your IFS. A sas is only going to make it less stable on the freeway and more top-heavy. It won't be very comfortable to drive on long trips.

Typically, there are only 2 reasons that people do a solid axle up front:

1) Solid axles are usually stronger than IFS
2) They articulate better than IFS

Please don't take any offense, but for a rig that isn't going to get wheeled, it makes zero sense to do a sas, especially with a sami axle. If you plan on rock crawling hardcore trails, it might make sense. A sami axle isn't going to be much stronger than your IFS right now. If you want it for the looks and bragging rights of a sas, then I suppose a Sami axle could work, but if you actually plan to put it into 4wd, I strongly recommend against it. Talk to Mark @ Low Range and see how much he loves his sami axle up front. :)

I hope this post doesn't come across as harsh, I'm only trying to help save you some heartache and $ from lessons I've learned the hard way. A sami axle is 4" narrower than the stock IFS on a tracker. You'd have to use 2" wheel spacers, and while that's possible, it's not the right way to do it. Even a toyota axle is still 2" narrower than stock. I wouldn't even consider a SAS unless you're going with a toyota axle. And even then, unless you're doing some really tough rock crawling, I'd stick with IFS on that rig. If you don't plan on doing anything tougher than rattlesnake or hell's revenge, definitely stick with IFS.

Now if you're going for show and bragging rights, then I don't really know what to suggest.

It does seem like I ignore your feedback alot doesnt it. sorry, I do actually really like listening to your opinions and hearing of your experience steve. I will call mark and talk to him and others more. Really after talking to you some prior to this I was going to ditch the idea of doing sas with a sami axle ESPECIALLY since all I do is mall crawl. But then I got a KILLER deal on a samurai axle with lockrit locker, full highsteer, new brakes and more for just a $125 toyota axle swap for a buddy to swap toyotas in his samurai. I will be researching this more before its started, especially with the more top heavy comment.

Might even change my mind as I ALWAYS do and just seem to be addicted to trading parts;).

I try not to interject my opinion when people aren't asking for it, but I think you'll be happier keeping it as is. Sell your sami axle and make some $ on it. The more you lift your rig, the worse it'll drive around town, on the freeway, and at the mall. :) I can't wait to get you out on the trail because you'll realize your rig flat out rocks. Rattlesnake will be a lot easier in that rig than your old sami. And it looks killer as is. And if you ever need to sell it, a SAS will actually LOWER the value of the rig (ask me how I know :))

Thank you steve. Hopefully I can get some time off soon and as long as the wifes sanity keeps getting alittle better ill get out and post up in the trip planning section.
