Stolen iPhone 4...

We had a garage sale Saturday with my family. During the sale I was replacing my sisters headlight because my wife backed into her car a couple weeks ago. While I was working on the car I had my phone on the ground next to the tool set. When I finish the job I went inside to wash my hands and come back out to the phone missing. So I start asking my family who has my phone and no one had it. My sister says she saw a woman pick something up off the ground just minutes before but didn't realize it was my phone till I started asking for it. Luckly she remembered the lady drove a red darango with a big la dodgers sticker inthe back window. So we call the cops and AT&T. The cops come over will they were taking the report AT&T was able to put tracking software on my phone. We track the phone to Layton and it was recovered with in thirty minutes. It was pretty cool that AT&T could do that and that kaysville city was on it so fast plus it makes for a cool story.

On a related note, do you like the Big Brother implications of all this?

No, but I didn't like feeling like I had just been kicked in the balls when I realized my phone was gone either.

My hands. The iPhone 4 is cool but sometimes on rme when I search new posts it doesn't reload the whole screen. My 3G never did that I also hate that it isn't jailbroke like my 3G but it will be soon enough. I highly reccomend jailbreaking yours when the software is released.

Phones are the dumbest thing to steal. (or anything with a serial number on it that requires service)..all phone can be tracked instantly.

Imagine thinking you just got away with a new iPhone and all of a sudden the doorbell rings and it's the boys in blue. He didn't haul her to jail because she had like eighteen kids with her hardly spoke a lick of English. Not that it matters or anything.

Not totally true. Yes a standard phone can be tracked but only to an area via cell tower triangulation. Unlike newer smartphones with actual GPS hardware they can be tracked to within feet.

Yes they have it for Droid or should. They also have it for WinMo phones. There are various companies out there that have software to track the phone yourself. I know for WinMo phones there is software that you can put on yourself. With a simple txt message I can lock the phone to make it unusable, make it send me a txt/email,etc with GPS cords of where it is, and even see calls made on the phone.

Right now I'm running a HD2. I don't use anything on mine currently but if you do a google search for WinMo theft security you will come up with a couple. The other thing any good one will do is wipe the phone of any personal data when the sim card is changed or you txt it the code to track it.
