Strange PSD trans issue

On the way home today my trans suddenly started to get hot. Never goes over 185 even towing and it was 180 in the city, and climbed to 210 before I could stop. Strange part is the cooler was COOL to the touch as were the lines. I thought maybe it is just low on fuild (no leaks that I can see) topped it off, started it, went around the block, stayed 180ish. Turned it off. Got back in a few minutes later and I have NO gears. No forward or rev. If I listen carefully I can hear want sounds like a bad power steering pump. I have had ZERO indications of ANY problems until this happened. (Been getting great mileage in fact) This is a Built trans with about 50k on it.....

Really strange to me.....
I have always used Chicks, any other suggestions for trans work?
Who is our go to for towing now?

PSD=4R100 right?
The cool cooler is interesting, perhaps a clogged filter?
Has it been changed since the re-build?
Have the soft hoses swelled or collapsed?

His is an older body style. '97 or older. I think they are the A4OD or whatever.
