Stroker + H2O = a mess

I picked up a low mileage 4.6 stroker motor from a guy on KSL. He told me it ran great when he took it out. It was out in his canvas garage but it looked like he had covered up all of the openings. I wanted to check everything out before putting it in my Jeep and when I drained the oil I got some water, oil and "chocolate milkshake". There was a little less than a pint of "extra" oil in it. I decided to pull it apart to see if I could figure out where the water came from. It was apparent some had come from the crankcase breather opening. I would have bet that that is where most of it came from. The milkshake in the oil filter showed that he did run it with the water in it. The filter didn't have any metal flakes in it so I'm guessing the bearings are probably OK. I did find some scuffing in each cylinder that is in line with the rod travel and wondered if this might be from the short 258 rods used in the build. While I had it apart I figured out how the shop that built it made the stroker:
92 4.0 block bored .020" not decked
258 4 balance weight crank
258 rods
677P Sealed Power pistons
92 head with a standard valve job
not sure on the cam but its not stock
standard head gasket
24 lb Ford injectors.

With this build the quench is about .115" which is not good. I am going to have a shop check it out to see if anything is cracked that might explain the water and to make sure everything is flat.
I am tempted to use longer 4.0 rods and aftermarket pistons to improve the quench and get better wear on the cylinder. I don't want to have it ping on regular if I can help it. Any thoughts on what others have done on these 4.6 builds ? I have done a lot of reading on the subject but wanted some opinions from those who have done this before.

Here are some pictures of what I found. Any suggestions on a shop that has done these 4.6 strokers that I can trust ?

No suggestions on a good shop that is familiar with Jeep strokers ? I called the shop that supposedly built it but the guy didn't seem to know that there were options to using the 258 short rods.

Hunter Machine has always been my go to guy, but I don't know how much he would know about this set up. Might be worth a call.

there is a shop in Bountiful off of 500 w around 900 s that when I walked in with just two pistons and the connecting rods and without saying a word he knew they were jeep 4.0 which to me says he knows a thing or two... all I had done was have the pistons put on the rods. But I would probably go back to him with any work I needed done.

What about getting your money back from the KSL seller, and just building a stroker from one of the blocks you likely have in your garage?

Check the compression. I know there are different thickness head gaskets available to drop it a bit.

Check the main bearings and if they are good, run it.

Unless it's a DD any other reason not to run premium?

I plan on checking the bearings out and trying to find out where the water came from. The main reason for not wanting premium is that we use this rig on long expeditions and premium gets pricey out in the far away places.
