strut problems

I need some advice with my car, I know this is a 4x4 sight but it is still technical and suspension related, so hopefully some one will have some information.

Here’s my dilemma, I have a 95 ford probe, the ride is pretty stiff. I was told that it needs new struts because the tires are wearing out on the inside edge of the front tires. Does any body have any experience with struts? Is it possible for the struts to be bad and wear the tires out? I have tried to wiggle the tires top to bottom and side to side and there is no play so bearings, ball joints and tie rods all seem to be ok.

struts going out are not going to make your ride stiff....it will usually soften really good. and struts going bad could cause the tires to wear, but if you lift the front of the vehicle and you have no play while trying to move the top and bottom of the tire in then I doubt it. Sounds like an alignment issue if all else is tight.

I was hoping you would chime in on this.

I herd that struts can freeze up and cause the tires to wear funny, and cause some cupping of the tire. i have noticed some slight cupping but its not that bad compaired to how much the tire is getting chewed up.

cupping is usually done to improper alignment and/or lack of tire rotation. How is it when you jounce the front suspension?? does it move freely?? Dude I live right up the street, I can give ya a hand

when do you think we could take a look at it? it moves but you have to push pretty hard and its not real bouncy.
