Holly and I have been planning to drive our truck and camper to New Orleans for our 10 year anniversary. We have been doing tons of research on the area. With the current fuel prices, it is going to cost about $1,000 in FUEL for the round trip now. When we began this process, I was estimating $600 for fuel. Ouch. New Orleans? Or Christmas? We won't be having both this year.

Didn't really like any of the other options... Have you checked airline prices? There are some really cheap fares these days. Any reason you wanted to drive?

yeah, fuel is outrageous right now...have you priced flying? I know its not the same but it may be cheaper to fly and just stay in hotels...

This is happening the week after Turkey day, flying is out of the question, not to mention budget.

why, does someone not like to fly? as far as budget, just searched on expedia and for flight, hotel, and a rental car can be had for around $1000...same as just the fuel you are planning right now???

just throwing out options :D

Have you ever tried to fly anywhere around Turkeyday? With only 5 days of notice? It is out of the question. I am not planning on $1000 in fuel, I am planning on $600.

Hey, you don't have a taco.....Ewwww, Curt I think Brett is saying you need to clean the back of your truck out....

Brett had a Taco... ;)

And he will never be allowed in mine... it was broken in long ago. :D

Back on subject...

I would opt for the bigger christmas myself. Spending $1000 just on the fuel would sway me on the subject. I still get sick at the fact I spent nearly $400 on fuel going to the Rubicon... Made me feel like the trip wasn't worth it in some respect. Glad I did it, but it will be a loooooooong time before I am ready to head there again, especially with all the poop. :(
