I am thinking of hacking up my zuk and raising the gas tank. should I keep the stock 10 gallon tank or upgrade to a fuel cell for safety sake?

if so what are some good brands and models of fuel cells. it would be carbureted for now but needs to be upgradeable to a fuel injection system in the future.

I prefer the aluminum ones from summit...the RCI ones are fairly inexpensive and you can get them powdered coated if you want...I would say go with a cell fo r safety and it makes it look like a cleaner install...

Just use the tubing of the roll cage as a gas tank so you can save space and money:eek:

All I can say (and I don't know if I can say it enough) is don't run an aftermarket plastic cell. I had problems with one in my camaro and a buddy ran one is his Nova. any heat distorts em and then instead of holding 16 gallons they hold like 9....no good. I have the 20 gallon aluminum in my Heep.

I agree with this 100%...I have seen this and been told never to never use the poly cells...also after time they can/will start to peel on the inside and clog up your pumps and filters...

Just curious...how do you build it wrong? thats pretty broad. Are we talking baffles? thickness? rod used to weld it with? sump location?

All of the above...
Wrong dimensions, wrong angles, and wrong sump, no catch, bad tig welds, bad pump location, bad caps and others.

Racecar tanks arent what we need for our sport............

What's that thing mounted on--------Pork chops or hockey sticks...

Bingo

I run a 16 gallon just because I like to run regular trails all day and baja a bunch and not worry one bit....
At the comp's I fill it about half....

The key to hold fuel and keep it running is in the catch system...

There fairly simple but what works and doesnt is key here....
