I rode up Old Ward Canyon the other day. I saw 6 deer in the city on my way up.

Popped out at Buckland flats.

Rode up Skyline Drive for a bit.
Turned down this trail

Took a right at the fork and went down the Buckland Ridge trail
hdr_1347850149002.jpg

It met back up with Old Ward Canyon trail.
Came back out at Buckland Flats
and rode down Skyline Drive.

Saw 2 does and a fawn
&
This amazing sunset

Then we saw a 4 point buck and a doe in the city on our way back to the house.
I guess all the deer are smart enough to avoid the hunters by staying out of the hills.

I took it pretty mellow but what a great way to see this beautiful area.

Great pics  Good to hear you're liking the bike. I wonder if a used eBay flywheel and stator from a WR would swap in.. More weight plus the option of having a headlight. Something to look into maybe.

Went on another quick ride. This might become a nice evening activity for Sunday.

Rode up old ward canyon. Then took the first turn off and andwent up buckland ridge trail. Turned onto skyline drive. Turned left at the "T" and rode nearly to the top. Made a left off skyline drive onto trail #249 then left again onto #250 and did a cool loop and Through a couple streams
Here are the pics

My 11yr old and I did nearly the same loop Saturday evening. We went up Buckland to Skyline and then rode the road nearly a mile or two then turned right onto 606 (Tuttle Loop) and road that down until we thought we had to turn around because of light. We came back on the road until Buckland Campground and then took the back way to Old Ward Canyon road and on down above the B. We got back to the truck at dark. I was going to call you but it was short notice. Next time

Turned up the hill and cruised up Skyline drive and turned left at the "T" towards Farmington.
Cruised past the finger lakes up there.

Ran up to the top of a cliff

Cruised up the road to Francis Peak and took a distant look after some nice camouflaged gentlemen in a black Tahoe asked us to stay below the gate.

Talked to some cool hunters: one of them was cruising around these trails on his wr250f. There was pretty heavy rock on the trails out here.

so we spun around after exploring most of the roads out there and shot over to some goat trail that soon dead ended

The smoke from the Idaho fires made for some cool photos

photobucket-8027-1348715919784.jpg

We rode up some gnarly gnarly loose rock trail (1st gear pinned rock bouncing)
photobucket-47269-1348715902662.jpg

This had cables off of it in every direction to keep in on the mountain!
And had hooks on it were the must have airlifted it up there (there was no visible way to explain how else it was up there on such a steep precipice).

Sun started heading down
photobucket-44976-1348715909878.jpg

So we boogied back
photobucket-45692-1348715898937.jpg

and at the hair pins, Jon almost ran into this big boy

Big Bull Moose!

We were really running out of daylight now so we hurried back down the shortcut (buckland ridge trail) as the sun was setting in the west.
We bombed down the trail with our engines off running up high around the narrrow berms of the narrow trail (my favorite).

Gorgeous Day! Most fun ride I've ever done; we covered almost exactly 50 miles in 3:15 hours.
