SUP: Standup Paddle Boarding. Good locations for a beginner?

I just traded a guy for an inflatable paddle board set up. I've never tried it before. My wife and I want to try it out somewhere that isn't a 4 hour drive away and isn't on a reservoir with a million boats on it. Any ideas? Anyone else into paddle boarding? Is it hard to learn?

Love SUPing. I go as often as I can. It's not hard to learn, just takes practice to get good just like anything else. You should be able to stand up on the board your first time out. My wife went and did it for the first time up at pineview last month, she had a blast. Go in the early morning or it gets choppy

Pineview is fun if it isn't too choppy. Not too scenic, but plenty of people sup on our little lake in stansbury. It is usually very smooth.
