SUWA Advertising on KSL

So browsing KSL this morning and what do I see, a large near half page SUWA ad. Everyone who can please visit and report it. There is an option to select "Values" and "Miss leading information". KSL has really been going downhill!

Hmmm they usually use directed ads based off of your personal browsing history... and why shouldn't a media show both sides of a story (even if just in ads) are you that afraid of the other sides message that you feel they should not be given their right to free speech?

On my work network so that may explain some. My issue isn't their free speech, it is very missleading and I take issue with anyone that would throw outdoor enthusiast under the buss. Obviously you have not seen the ad?

i thought that ksl uses a generic advertising system that uses your browsing history to determine which ads to show you. it shows you the SUWA ad based on your cookies/history it shows me car dealership ads

i don't think that everyone can see it

SUWA = Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, basically a bunch of tree-hugging, rock-climbing hippies that want all the land in utah closed to mechanized travel

they have a lot of money, and a lot of support, especially the sympathy factor that their spokesman is Aaron Rahlston (sp?)

If they are ads driven by your browsing history, it will be based on your computer, not which network you are on. Also, if these ads are being driven by browsing history, they are likely CPC ads. This means SUWA pays per click to each ad. So to do the most harm, it would be most beneficial for you to sit there and click the ads. That will rack up a bill for SUWA and you'll have zero interest in what they are saying. Again, depending on how the ads are structured, they may have said they will pay $X.XX per click up to $XXXX. Meaning you could exhaust their entire advertising budget for this particular campaign without anyone else viewing it.

Again, this is all hypothetical, but I do have first hand knowledge of how a lot of these ad networks work.

It's not based on IP, I can promise that, but they could be setting a cookie when it's clicked. However, even if they set a cookie, each click may still count. The ad campaigns usually don't care about unique clicks, but more so on clicks per impression, especially when it comes to billing.

And they put forth a lot of outright lies, half truths, and clear distortions to further their cause of total land lock-up. They are akin to Uncle Adolf in the 1930's as he slowly sought to nibble and devour Europe by political deception before resorting to outright war. SUWA=Land Nazis
