Sway Bar Disconnect

I am thinking of disconnecting my front sway bar during my spring break trip. I will be on dirt, 4wheel, and black top roads. What should I expect? Is it safe? I have a YJ with a 3 inch lift.

I have disconnected the front before and really like the articulation in produces. I was just thinking of leaving it disconnected on my 1 week trip. But, was not sure how the jeep would handle on black top with higher speeds. I won't be driving long distances on the black top. Maybe 15 miles at the most. I was just trying to avoid reconnecting the sway bar each time I hit the blacktop.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Mike

Just throw the thing away.. you wont notice the differance after a couple of days of road driving... Leaf springs don't need em :)

I agree with all the above. I have a 95 wrangler with spoa and 37s that I drive on the road with no trac bars and no sway bar and I dont have trouble with it at all. You feel the sway but it is something that you can handle and really get used to. I have never had the sway bar connected in the last 6 years or so.

The only issue with removing it completely is when you go to do safety inspections, depending on where you take it they may require it. I'll echo what everyone else has said, get rid of it, on road you won't hardly notice a difference (as long as you don't drive your jeep like its a race car), and offroad it makes a huge difference.
