Sway bars on XJ

I just finished up phase 2 of my Xj project and its a little bigger thean i though. I didn't hook my swaybars up and it runs ok on the street if you dont go crazy. Anyone else running without them or know of a reason why I should put them back on.

My bud and I run around w/ out any sway bars. My bud use to just run the fronts, but not anymore.

I would just play it by ear with your own rig. My coils aren't too soft yet, so I don't notice it too much.

I never ran them on mine when it had 5.5" of lift but I could notice it when turning corners, other than that it wasn't really noticeable...You may need them for safety depending on you requirements, we do here in Salt Lake although often guys get them to pass without:)

i removed the rear the day i got my cherokee. the front- i've got some JKS disco's for it, and they are old and worn out. it took half an hour to put it on with a hammer this weekend cuz it was frozen and the bushings were stuck. i would just throw the front one away too, but i occasionally let someone else drive my jeep, and i don't feel comfortable with them driving it without one. -grant

I run without front or rear sway bars right now, but that's not by choice. I am going to put the front one back on as soon as I get the broken bolt out on the right side mount, or weld it on......I prefer a bit more control than what the jeep has right now

I wouldn't recommend that anyone run on the road without a front swaybar on an XJ, there are too many morons on the road that you may need to avoid without warning... .....but the rear is useless. If disco's aren't your bag, a great alternative is the Currie Anti-Rock setup. I have several buddies running these on their 5"+ lifted XJ's and they are less firm than a stock bar on the street but make the rig more stabile in the rough and seem to not limit articulation either.......if Currie's pricing seems steep, there are similar, less spendy setups available without their logo on it.

we installed currie anti rock sway bars front and rear on one of our customers cherokees . I think his is bigger than a 5 inch lift.and it seems to do a great job. no complaints

i only had 3" of lift... but i never had the rear on (pointless) and i used to disco the front but then i drove it without remembering to reconnect and it was not a whole lot different even when i was swerving around. all those stories about people rolling easy cause of swaybars are retarded.
do what works for you though.
