tall, skinny tire suggestions for the tow rig

I need to put new tires on the truck I picked up over the weekend and would prefer a taller, skinny tire for better mpg. The truck is a K2500 6.5 TD with manual trans and 4.10 gears. Nothing too aggressive to keep things quiet, and the wheels are stock Duramax 16x6.5 polished aluminum.

Some 255/85r16 they are 33.5 in tall and 10 in wide.

Yup, find an E-rated 255/85r16. Most are D-rated. Otherwise, any 235/85r16, which are 31" tall.

I would stick with the 235's. They are lighter, less expensive and easier to find on the road should something happen in BFE.

Leave them stock. You'll lose power (torque) towing with a larger tire. Not good with that motor. Also keep it under 75 with that gearing. Cranking the torsion bars will level it out and form up the ride around corners

That is a good plan but you will likely be driving by the pyro most of the time, trying to keep egt's in check.
