Just going to vent here for a minute.
Of course everything that can go wrong can and will go wrong will while I'm deployed in one friggin week.
Right now I'm very grateful for a warranty on my wife's Tahoe and even more so for my dad and for a few guys I work with back home that are taking care of a few things for me.
So I've been working non-stop for 13 days before I finally caught a break today to finally talk to my wife about the problems she was sort of able to communicate to me about. A few days ago the Tahoe started having some serious issues like it would cut out and kick and sputor when she turned. Of course the dealership found everything wrong with it they could which isn't actually a problem because we have a warranty. The list is pretty long but stuff like intake gaskets, exhaust manifold crack, instrument cluster inop, CV boot torn, PS line Leaking and Trans line Leaking. Initial bill came out to about $3500, out of pocket less than $400. Thank you warranty. Now all that crap is fixed.
Next day or two she tells me the Tahoe won't "turn" after what she told me today it sounds like someone installed mis-matched gears. The Tahoe may have not ever hit 4wd since the day we bought. I know I put it in when I test drove it but maybe it didn't engage or something I don't know. Luckily they fixed it and the only money she payed was $101 for some aftermarket wheels and some tires she liked, not sure how she pulled that one off, probably just them trying to make her feel better about them screwing up. Still not sure what the deal is with that one but whatever, the 4wd works and she has good tires, that's what is important right. Young Chevrolet is taking care of her pretty good i guess.
Next day or two I get a message basically saying the roof is leaking but the insurance is going to cover part of it and we will only have to pay 500 ish. Great I think. Until I find out it is still leaking up to 5 gallons a day. My dad is going to come down on Tuesday to fix the leak and fix the drywall and anything else that is wrong with the house. This is a 13 hour drive for him from Oregon.
The Pro's aren't coming until Wednesday to actually remove the swamp cooler and patch the roof. So it's quite a few days of a leaking roof. Up to 5 gallons a day leaking into buckets according to my stubborn wife. I had to get on her to call my boss to get some people out to the house to remove the snow and ice from the roof to stop the leaking. Luckily the Air Force is pretty good about taking care of our families...as long as they know there is a problem and she is a stubborn woman who doesn't want to ask for help. I had to force her.
As we are speaking there should be a couple guys at my house doing everything they can to at least stop the leaking and prevent any further damage. Sounds like there is a bunch of ice and snow on the roof that managed to sneak it's way through the swamp cooler that should have been removed years ago. Hopefully the guys coming over can get the water to stop leaking and when my dad shows up he can get things back to normal, he did build house when I grew up so I have complete confidence in his ability.
I'm probably going to have to have him come down this summer to re-roof the house. Part of me is upset about this but a bigger part of me really likes the idea of spending a week on the roof of my house with my dad, it's been too long since I've spent some good quality time with him.
Well that is all. Not asking for help since it looks like we have things covered. If I feel like we need help in the next day or two I will post something up. Sometime this summer I'll be sure to post up about the roofing deal and see what's what and who can help out or give good quotes and what not.
Ok rant over. This forum is one of the few places I know of that I can rant like this and not catch a bunch of flack, at least as far as online forums go.
