Testing a Limited Slip

I pulled a factory limited slip differential out of a Pathfinder at the junkyard this weekend and I was curious if anyone knows how to test it out of the vehicle? Everything about the third member seems to be fine. Nice and tight, no strange wear patterns or anything like that, but I'd like to know if the clutches are worn out before I swap it into my Pathfinder.

I don't think it is possible to test a LS out of the vehicle without some specialized equipment. I think your best bet would have been to test it while it was still in the donor vehicle.

How much $$ is a clutch and spring kit to rebuild it? Is a rebuild kit even available? It may be worth rebuilding since it's out... I don't think it would be too tough. Maybe something even you could handle Stephen.;)

Their are rebuild kits, and they are not terribly expensive. I might be able to do it, but then I would be depriving Carl of my smile (and dollars), and we wouldn't want that, would we? :D

Oh heavens no... Carl wouldn't be able to sleep at night if he didn't have that smile to keep him company!

I have faith that you could do it, or if you felt inadequate, I might be persuaded to help you out.;)
