"Obama adviser David Axelrod said administration officials will take into account the message voters delivered Tuesday in electing Republican Scott Brown, but declined to go farther."

I guess they're finally getting the message.
They'll never really get the message though. Even after they have been booted out of the White House, they still won't get the message.

I think it is appropriate to add this quote about Medicare here.

Herzog's quote: People keep saying that "capitalism & free markets" have failed when in fact that is not the case. It's the intervention of those free systems by the gov't allowing the corrupt corporations that would normally rot out in a healthy capitalistic market to define and set rules of the trade, thus they thrive.

Very true. I remember working at a voting station when a woman became all hysterically crying and said "if he gets elected President the country is doomed" Well I have to admit it hasn't done as well as I would have liked but I have to remember that this was 1943 when Roosevelt was running for his third term and I was helping my Democrat mother at the polling place. Thank God for the constitution and the God given rights of the American people.

If this is a true trend maybe now we can get the Republicans on board.

I'm with Jack on this one.

I'm a proponent of health care reform. I think the loss of the filibuster proof majority could be a good thing, but it could backfire also. The way that they get votes in the legislative branch of government is to cut deals with those who can be bought, and that's not in anyone's best interest. I think they've gotten too far to not get some form of reform passed, the question is what kind of package will we end up with, and at what cost. I think killing it is a mistake, because this is the only issue I've heard of that all of the major players (Insurance Companies, Pharmaceutical Companies, Hospitals, and Doctors) agree that the current system is unsustainable. Right now, or at least in 2008, the average family of 4 paid $14,000 a year for health care, out of pocket, with insurance. At the current rate, by 2018 the average family of 4 will pay $38,000 per year, out of pocket, with insurance. Not to mention the uninsured who will not be denied health care at the hospitals emergency room, and won't be able to pay the bill (which is a huge expense to those of us who have insurance and pay). We spend more on health care per person than any other country in the world, yet we are the only country that has it's citizen's declaring bankruptcy from medical bills they cannot pay.

this reminds me of Faith No More:

The small victories
The cankers and medallions
<<<The little nothings>>>
They keep me thinking
That someday
I might beat you
But I'll just keep my mouth shut

It shouldn't bother me
But it does

IF I SPEAK AT ONE CONSTANT VOLUME AT ONE CONSTANT PITCH AT ONE CONSTANT RHYTHM
RIGHT INTO YOUR EAR, YOU STILL WONT HEAR

I'm all of the above today! Very giddy indeed!!

How strong of message is it when a Reagan conservative wins in a highly liberal state? AND said lib's concede without filing law suits AND with all of the voter fraud I'm sure they played in to boot. It wasn't just a 6 point victory, it was a land slide, IMO.

IMO this is the nail in the coffin on the socialist health care reform the anoited one is pushing down our throats. My only hope is that everyone that got bought for signing, now get's jack sh*t AND looses the respect of their people and their seat. :D

It'll be interesting to see how the dems react to this. They've now either got to combine the bill PDQ and vote on it before he's confirmed (the democratic state government of Mass. could take up to 10 days), or the house has to accept the whole senate version of the bill with no changes, and vote on it.

I heard on the radio today that the Senate AND B.H.O. agreed that the "right thing to do" is to wait until Brown takes his seat to proceed. :greg:

politics as usual and it's been going on since the dawn of man. In ancient times, some "charismatic" cavemen promised to bring fire to all the villages and everyone bangs their stones together and rallies around him. He then doesn't deliver the goods and the masses quickly turn on him. Another moron rises to the opportunity and sells the next swindle. Millions of years later, we are trudging along.

it's cyclical and completely embarrassing.

I just walked outside and heard this whirring sound that reminds me of a fan.......it must be Ted Kennedy spinning in his grave.:rofl::rofl:
I read a comment on a fark.com thread that basically said "They should have wrapped Ted Kennedy on copper, they could power the whole northeast with him spinnin' in his grave!" lol I thought it was clever.
