The Mona Pole?

Thardy

Does anyone know anything about this trail? I have heard a couple people talking about it and saw a Mona jeep run up there last month.

Mona is just down the road from me and if it is worth it or even still open I would like to take a ride one of these days.

Just looking for more info. I found one thread from 2006. But didn't get much info and that's pretty out of date.

It's supposed to be a nice scenic ride. I don't know of a decent map, but you can check out the Forest Service MVUM for Spanish Fork Ranger District at http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/uwcnf/maps-pubs. Also, it kind of shows on the Forest Service's Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop Opportunites Map at http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/uwcnf/maps-pubs/?cid=fsem_035542.

Also, the forest service website says (at http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/uwcnf/recreation/horseriding-camping/recarea/?recid=32231&actid=104)
...A permit is required to drive on this road which you can obtain at the Spanish Fork Ranger District Office...
I don't think this has always been the case, I don't remember hearing of a permit in the past. But it does run right through the center of a Wilderness Area, so they may be keeping close tabs on who's there. Or there may be a private property issue in the lower end of the canyon. Would be curious to know if anybody has any input on that.

I rode it on an ATV for the first time about a month ago. It's a nice scenic ride. The trail is pretty easy although there are sections that are fairly steep.

Did you get a permit?

How long is a permit good for? I don't know if it's one I want to plan a run for but Woolf like to run it just when I have a Saturday.
