Million dollar highway between Silverton and Ouray, CO. Aaaaaamazing!

If you're in that area, you might as well drive from Grand Junction to Gateway, CO and then on to Telluride... but only if you like driving in a deep canyon next to a river... with LOT'S of curvy, sweeping turns. There's also little traffic and even less cops. :greg: It's an absolute hoot on a motorcycle, I'd imagine it would be almost as fun in a sports car.

paging spaggyroe:

can you connect hobble creek to diamond fork on all pavement?

Sorry to hijack, but no. That's a nice ride, but not in a miata.

I love the concept of this thread Steve. I'd like to join sometime. I'll try to talk magerdgr into going too, he has a nice triumph tr-6 that's a riot to cruise around in.

I'm in, sounds like fun. I have zero track skills and I always get spanked at these things.

I've never been to this location. Are these the kind of karts where you actually have to brake, or can you just floor it the whole time and never have to brake?

It's really hard to drive the speed limit home after going to one of these.

I still suggest going up Butterfield to the top where the pavement ends... Like I said above

Back when I was a bit more reckless I hung out with a few Subaru guys and we would go blast the canyons late at night, Millcreek one week and Butterfield another, gets pretty exciting when you are going between 55 and 70 up those canyons. Roll bars/cages and helmets were mandatory.

Ah, so you're one of those douche canoes that helped Butterfield turn in to what it is today. Everyone on here should give you a big thanks.

Actually, I had only lived here a few months at the time and knew very little about the canyons at the time, just a few guys hanging out with their cars. I only drove Butterfield once or twice, didn't even know the name of it when I was up there.

Great way to get some track skill, and yes you have to use the brake pedal. I've never been to MMP kart course but I would love to, I was watching them last year at one of the races and they looked fun as hell. I think it would be great way to meet some people even if it is on pavement of sorts.

Johnson's pass from tooele county to Dugway is a fun road to drive. It's winding and has great banked curves. I believe that it gets patrolled fairly regularly but it's a lot of fun to row through your gears at speed.

I don't mind patrolled areas, Im not trying to race on the road. I just want to enjoy some fun twisty, scenic drives in the state.
