Here's our video from our road trip to Yellowstone last weekend:

We got to test a lot of our backpacking gear. There's not a lot of room for gear for 2 people for 4 days in the trunk of a miata. :) I re-learned that National Parks aren't really my thing. It was our first time to Yellowstone and I was really surprised at how commercialized it was. I wasn't expecting to see gas stations, markets, restaurants, hotels, etc in a National Park. The amount of RVs was insane. Traffic was crazy, and I think all the drivers there learned to drive in Provo. :D It was nice to have experienced it, but we don't plan on going back. It felt like disneyland without the fun rides. We did get to see some really cool animals up close though, that was awesome.

Grand Teton NP, on the other hand, was a much better experience. It was still plenty busy, but there was more hiking, more natural scenery, and more wildlife as well. Next time I'm in the area, I'll spend more time at Grand Teton NP, and skip Yellowstone.

Black_ZJ, it was nice to finally meet you and your wife.

I'm planning on another drive this Sunday night. Possibly from Salt Lake up into Ogden via backroads. Leave Lehi around 6:00 PM.

Why not start in SLC or Ogden and go up Ogden Canyon, over Trappers Loop, east on 84 to Morgan, through East Canyon, and then either come back down 80 or folks can continue to 40 and down Provo Canyon.

And did you look at those wheels I pointed out to you earlier?

Steve... guess what I got passed by today? Not one, but TWO... Miata's with GM V8's and they were BOTH on the throttle! :greg: They were leaving Flyin' Miata headquarters! ;)

I am not really a car guy, I prefer trucks, hopefully my next project will be something like this!

Street trucks can be really fun.

Here's one that I built about 23 years ago, which had the same power/weight ratio as a 5.0 Mustang at the time and was a fun sleeper.

Early Sunday morning runs up BCC were a great way to wake up and I used to scout out open parking structures that were vacant but lit at night.......perfected the throttle-induced drift before hooning was popular. Tried out a season of Solo racing and was assigned to the E-Mod class, so I competed against modded Miata's, which left me with a HUGE handling disadvantage, but I was consistant and managed a top 3 finish in a 4-6 car class, having much fun and learning stuff along the way.

Street trucks are a lot of fun. I had a 91 S10 with a 4.3 V6 lowered a bit with aftermarket suspension. It wasn't anything to write home about but it handled very well and was a hoot in the canyons. I was planning a V8 swap before a car pulled out in front of me and I totaled it.

I've always wanted a GMC Syclone or Typhoon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_Syclone :chris:

I'm not sure which car I like most in that picture, the old Z car in front of your truck or the white 993(Porsche) in the background. Once my Miata is done it will have close to the same lb/hp as a stock C5 ZO6, biggest problem with them is rear traction because you can't put much rubber under it without rolling the fenders.

Awesome. Its a good thing I don't live closer to them or I would be in trouble.

Hwy 65 going to east canyon state park would be a fun one. Not super long but has a fair amount of curves. Saw about 8 Porsche cayanns up there an maybe a fisker or two with them. Looked like they were doing some program since they all had badges an some with name tags. Also saw about 20 more vehicles waiting to head up there head right off the exit off i-80. A few Ferrari's, Acura nsx, masarati, an a bunch more. Only problem was that there were a lot of bikers (pedal) on the road an I was in my mini van, so it wasn't as fun as it could have been.
