While heading up toward Rattlesnake Canyon today we saw this burning car. It had just started on fire and nobody was around. After we ran Rattlesnake we came back around and the cops were still there. They think the car was stolen and would love to know who stole it, torched it, etc. Let me know if you recognize it.

I was the one that called the cops. We tried to put it out but couldn't. When I was waiting for the Tooele Sheriff the other part of the group winched it over and put most of it out. A guy that came down the road said he saw some teenagers jump into a black silverado and took off. I'm not sure if they will move the car but if its there in the future we should get some people out with trailers and pick it up along with that camper that has been there for some time. I don't have a trailer but would help. They also had a propane tank in the back seat and shot the car up. Too bad it did not blow when they were standing by it.

Its gone now

The cops couldn't find the VIN while the car was upside down so I strapped it back on its "wheels". Then a tow truck came to take it out so I suppose by now the heap is gone.

Graffiti

I'm thinking the Graffiti means something but even after living in NJ for 13 yrs, I still can't decipher any of it.

Thats good. I left after the fire trucks pulled out and the investigator and two officers were still there. Were you the one in the Nissan? Good thing it was raining or the whole area could of caught fire.

Nissan

Yeah, that was me in the Nissan. I'm just glad nobody was inside that car or that nothing exploded.

One of the cops said that it is wheelers who help them find stolen cars, dead bodies, etc.

Dead bodies?!? :ugh:

The news said that the firefighter from Sandy (or somewhere close) who tried to hook-up with a "thirteen year old" over the internet, killed himself at 5 mile pass. I wonder if it was a wheeler that found him? That would suck to come across some sh!t like that, especially if you had your family with you.

When are we doing the "Public Lands Day" again with the BLM? I'm afraid we are at the point where we need a couple dumpsters out there.

Garbage

Sorry its off the subject of the buring car, but when ever I camp out there,( only been twice), I will pick up all my trash and try to pick up beer cans and other stuff left by others. Hope I help, and hope people will realize that more stuff left means that they will close it down, or at least there will be huge problems. Its just sad about that car. I dont get it, take it to a junk or metal yard, that way you GET money.

Kathleen and I were out last weekend? And saw the sheriff and news team out there. Just when you make the turn to go North on the highway. We didn't know what was going on until that night on the news we found out it was the fireman that committed suicide. So he did it right there where you turn off to pick up the pony express trail, to the left in that big parking area.

Holy crap, I was in the parking lot when the group of kids pulled in with that car. They towed it in behind something, then immediately started doing donuts and beating it up. I figured they'd beat it up and what not, but it didn't even cross my mind that they'd leave it. I don't for the life of me remember anything about them. I can't think of what cars they had, what towed it in, or anything. There were three other people with me that all saw them, I'll see if they can remember anything specific. Who should we call if we can help? They came in from the north, that's all I remember. Crap, wish I'd have paid more attention.
