Things I learned today 9/05/08

1. I used to be a lot faster on a mountain bike
2. I'm still pretty fast
3. Loose rocks the size of baby heads suck as much now as they did when I was racing all the time
4. 14 bolts are heavy
5. 14 bolt diff lips can and will catch on the expansion joints in my driveway
6. The hydraulic table I got from Muleskinner is the best thing ever for working on axles, and you are all suckers for not snagging it. It was free. :D
7. GM engineers are sadistic, process-heavy a-holes. There is no way to get a wrench into the front spring perch on the rear springs. You can kind of c.ock it in there, but that's not all that great a way to hold a nut.
8. 67% of you bastards will giggle at "c.ock" and "hold a nut". I don't blame you.
9. shackle flips and 5" shackles are one inch higher than Meat's well-trained 4" front springs.
10. I can understand the utility of the 1" "zero-rate" blocks now. :D

That is all for today. :D

HEY, those are not abused... they are well trained! You should have to pay extra for training like that.

I relearned numbers 1 and 3 myself yesterday. my 14 yr. old talked me into going, so I took him up to White Pine (Little Cottonwood). I need to get back into that, what a riot, but my taint is achin' today!!:-\

You're right, I'm not. 4-bar, baby!! I did almost get a blue Superlight once....

Next bike will be a Santa Cruz Blur though. That thing is smooooooth, and less bobbing than 4-bars. :D

So what's the deal with people and their "badass" bikes that are stripped down frames sitting around the house?

I'm guessing that wasn't "Smiling Bob" that made the delivery? ;)

Bob just delivered it last night, hence the reason I slept alone....

I know nothing about bikes, but it must be pretty cool seeing as how he asked if he could bring it to bed with us. I said no.

When are you going to have that bike assembled Chris? I fixed up my Rocky Mountain a few weeks ago, it rides great now. I replaced the chain and a handful of sprockets that were mangled. Also swapped on a more comfortable seat, clip-in pedals, new tires. I want to ride Porcupine Rim this Fall... you game? Perhaps an RME Mtn Bike ride? Tacoma, Skylinerider... who else?
