Think I found it

So I think I decided I'm going to get this

http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/1169862?ad_cid=1

I need to get it down to me in Cali. The front bumper looks stock, do you think I could mount a tow bar to it if I backed it with a 4x6 piece of 1/4"? That way I can flat tow it home.

I'll see if I can get the guy to hold on to it since I have to go up there in three weeks for my daughter's spring break (I figure if she hangs with me I don't need to worry :)).

Any other ideas I'm overlooking?

I figure I can either restore it, do a one-of-a-kind thing, or turn it into a Rat Rod

That thing is mint and only 1500......I wish I had the money I would steal that right out from under you. Good luck getting the guy to hold it, you might think about sending him a deposit possibly. I wouldn't make it a RatRod it's just to clean. As for towing it I would think about getting a full car trailer from uhaul etc. Just be safer to get those old tires off the street altogether for that long drive back.

So one more quick question. From the internet these weigh around 1800 pounds. I have a single axle motorcycle trailer that is big enough to fit it. I haul our two road bikes on it all the time. They way around 1600 lbs. The tires will handle up to something like 1900 pounds. Do you think it would be safe to haul it on that? It is a tilt trailer so with some serious pushing I think I can get it on. I'm leaving in a couple of hours and think I will take the trailer with and use it depending on what you all think. If I don't use and get the uhaul one I can just leave it at my folks.

Thanks again

Sounds like it would handle it if you can get the weight distributed just right... Hauling from here to CA on the freeway, frankly I would want something heavier.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Get a u-haul trailer then you wont have to worry about it. FYI, if you do get the u-haull, tell you are loading a standard, small vehicle, such as a bone stock 2003 Jeep Wrangler. If you tell them what you are towing and it's not in their computer, they will not give you the trailer, from my experience anyways.

^^ Yup. I think every time I rent from UHaul from now on I'm going to tell them I'm hauling a Civic.

I'd get the UHaul trailer too, though. Sounds like the Jeep would be really close to max capacity for that little motorcycle trailer - give yourself some cushion.

Well you guys talked me into the uhaul trailer. I'll let you know how it all turns out. I go to look at it tomorrow night.

So I ended up getting it. I charged the battery at my dad's house and it started right up and sounded good. Can't wait to get it home and play. I did end up using the uhaul. It was barely wide enough to fit it on. I'll start a build thread as soon as I get it going.

I got home around midnight last night. This morning I drove it off the trailer and drove around for a couple of minutes. Couldn't get the low range to work but I think the hole through the tub just needs reamed out more. Also none of the lights work. I'll keep everyone updated when I get to working on it. I'm still trying to decide whether to try and fix the rust or just get a new tub for it. I'm also trying to decide whether to change it over to 12 volt or leave it at six volt. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

That's great that you passed me rholbrook. I love it when I recognize fellow wheelers from the site.
