I can only blame myself.
For a few years the RME ers have warned me against going to this 4x4 shop and i have not listened. Instead i defended them. I've spent $ there many times. Even though they made promises that weren't kept, did not return phone calls, and simply took FOREVER to get something done. Now the owner gets completely ignorant with me when i simply want my part done so my restoration can move forward, yet i cannot wait for 4 more weeks while he does nothing.
I don't care to go into the details because i don't like the drama. At least i've learned to do my own welding, fabrication, etc and now i'll just have to learn to do this too.
This is not a RME vendor by the way. But having been hosed by 4x4 shops come and gone all over Utah since moving here in 2005, i've gotten cynical and bitter. Are there any good ones? I'm going to go have a full strength beer now.

It may have been your own fault, but nobody deserves to get hosed. :( (well, maybe some people do...but those people aren't you)

Is this the A place?

if a person told me that everywhere they go some vendor hoses them...honestly first thing i'd wonder is if that person is at fault, not every vendor...however i'm a very easy going person i believe and i just let myself get walked on. Enough is enough. thx for the kind words.

Depending on what exactly you need done, Gertsch(Alex) on here and his dad are very good with fabrication and sheet metal, they are the ones helping with the 6x6 TJ build right now. PM him and see if it is something they can help you with.

They are pretty much known as crooks. Do a search for crooks and they should pop up.

I don't know rondo but I am probably 95% sure on who it is.

Pretty slimy guys. Pm me if you want to know.

It was the part about the owner getting ignorant gave it away.

Just to giggle, the search thing worked... :D

Anyways, I completely agree with the anti drama. Hope I didn't screw things up.

Sorry you had to go through the hassle...

sorry Greg, I shouldn't post, but that is some funny sh!t....
:D:D

oh Rondo, I hate to say but "you know who" gets ignorant when he sells your parts to other people thinking he can replace it for cheaper than he is charging...

Hence the reason you can't stop by and pick it up, its not there.

He has done it before and he will do it again...

Unlimited Fabrication in Springville can get you back on track. Communication and understanding before a project gets started is very important.

Here is what i was looking for. I am restoring a WW2 jeep and i don't want to put the old drum brake on. They get oily and are not too reliable. i've done lots of google searching for a dana 18 disk brake kit and haven't found much. There is one kit online that is a bit pricey. I have explored other options, but it occured to me that a fab shop that can hang axles all day under factory warranty would have no problem doing this for a reasonable charge. Instead all i heard was "that is not something you can get back quick 'cause we've never done it before and it's custom'. Yeah well then don't promise me a week and make it eight and it hasn't been touched. I think anyone who can do advanced fabrication can handle a simple disk brake on a 70 year old transfer case.

So please though if anyone has some experience doing this i'd love to hear about it. I feel it would be safer for the family than the old drum brake. Everything else on the old war wagon is WW2 stock but i feel safety is #1.

thx for listening? reading. what is apokraphilly anyway? it's not in the diktonarie
