One thing also I would like to point out....
Asking for support because the owner of the site needs it is very very different then making all the users feel guilty because they haven't paid up.

To be honest I saw a the thread when RME first went to having paid members and if I would have had the money then I would have given it.

But when I put on a guilt trip because I haven't...it makes me want to go the other way...

I wanted to reply to this thread and add my own opinion, since I didn't get the chance before. Just because somebody makes you feel guilty about donating shouldn't be a reason not to do so. It makes me feel bad to think that's the way it is.

I appreciate all who have donated, as well as those who have considered it. One thing I'd like to point out it that all the money made from you members who donate is that it is all going BACK into RME for YOUR benefit. The giveaways are the most noticable return, but helping finance RME's growth is number one on my list. If you think the money you're giving me is lining my pockets, you're way off. The money is being well spent.

As Caleb mentioned, I have long put off the idea of asking for donations. I don't like doing it, I'm not good at asking for money and if I could get the same results without asking for your help, I would do it first. To me, it feels like begging. Guess it's my lame pride...

Something else I'd like to mention, if you've made money from buying & selling parts on RME and you want to say 'thanks' for us providing a place for you to do so, say it with a donation! Like I said, the money goes to improving the place, so it's a worthwhile cause for all!

That's about all I have. Thanks for supporting RME, those who have said it with an Andrew Jackson and those who just say it! :D

I hope it doesn't ever get to the point that a person will not receive an answer because everyone knows they have not paid a contribution.

That brings up a good question....Why does everyone have to know if you have or have not paid? That little pink gear will never be by my name. If I was to donate it would be anonymous anyway.

For one, it helps to identify those who can participate in the giveaways. If I could afford to open the giveaways to all AND have them paid for by donations, I'd do it. I think the main reason people donate is to participate in the drawings, therefore having opened entry into the giveaways would probably drive down the amount of donating members.

I suppose you could send a Money Order thru the mail to make an anonymous donation. ;)

Count me in for a contribution, I have been a member for 6 months now. I have learned a ton with my dumb newbie questions and problems, bought several parts through here and your good for a laugh. Well worth 20 bucks. Thanks for all the help.

Ok, I donated.

Honestly I don't care about the giveaway, it's a nice benefit but it wasn't my motive for donating. For me it's all about supporting a helpful community. If I have the chance to assist a place like RME so it will continue to grow, then $20 a year is well worth it. I have came across some great information about trails, parts, modifications and have even managed to make a few internet-buddies on here, ;) ! I'm sure eventually I'll be buying some neat parts for the XJ and at that time I'll look to RME first.

Thanks to Greg and everyone else that helps run RME! Keep the beneifts coming!
