Tire pressure

sawtooth4x4

Totally Awesome
I have an 06' F350 super crew long bed, 4x4 diesel. I had 285/65/18 Nitro
trail grapplers.

What's a good tire pressure to use when I'm not hauling or towing?

When I had the tires installed on Monday the tire shop had the psi set to 80 all around. It was horrible. Pretty unstable. Really bad handling.

I Lowered the psi to 65 in the front and 60 in the back and it feels much better.

Is this to low?

Check the inside of the door jam for the factory settings. From there, figure out how much more volume of tire you have as a percentage and lower accordingly. There was an old school trick of using chalk. Draw a line across the tread face and drive the truck forward a few revolutions. Check tosee where the chalk was worn the most and inflate or deflate accordingly.

I have the same tires load range E, on a 2001 F-250 Superduty diesel crew cab 4x4 with a 4" lift and I currently run all 4 tires at 45 lbs, had them up around 65 lbs and they were to hard, I also removed the front & rear sway bars and the truck rides much better, it rode like shit at the higher tire pressures?
