Tire Sizing ?

So I'm looking at selling my tires and getting some new ones. I have 285x75r17 bfg all terrains. I was wanting to get some 33 inch km2's or mtr kevlars. I figured the 33's would give me a little more height and better stance.

I know sizing usually isn't right on with tires but when I type my current tire size in a tire calculator it says they are 33.83 inches but when I measure them they measure at less than 31.5. Does this seem right? They have between 70-80% tread. I have zero rubbing issues. Should I be looking for a 33 inch tire or bigger?

I dont know if other tires compress the same, but I went outside to measure my tire, it's a 33" BFG A/T with about 80% thread at 30psi (maybe 28) mounted on my 4Runner it measures 31 1/4" so you might be needing something bigger. I didnt check the load rating so I dont know if the sidewall is flexing more causing the loss of height.

I've rarely seen a tire true to it's advertised size. Usually you are at least a .5" shorter, sometimes much more.
