Tires for my TJ

I am hoping someone can give me some direction on what type of tires to buy for my 98 TJ. I have been thinking about the Toyo MT but they are so proud of their tires and charge you a arm and a leg. I was quoted almost $1700 out the door at Les Schwab. I need to buy 5 tires and I am looking for 35x12.50x15. The only thing that makes me not want the Toyo besides the price is the 13.5 for the width. I forgot to add that my wheels are a 15X8

Mixed but I don't drive it in the winter (I uninsure it and park it in the garage until March 1st)

You're lucky where you're rinning the 15" tires, you have all sorts of options. For the money, I'd say it's hard to beat the BFG brand. The KM2 was the last set I had, and loved em!

I have the Toyo's in a 35X18 now. Good tire, but way overpriced (they were the only one's making the size I needed).

Rockmonkey should chime in shortly and tell you how great Maxis is though. :D

I wanted to change the wheel size but just can't bring my self to do it. I don't drive it enough to want to spend that kind of money along with the tires. I currently am running Pro Comp MT and I hate them. I have had them on the Jeep for about 8 years or so and they seem to be drying out some I only have like 7,000 miles on them.

I hate driving the jeep on any wet roads. Seems they don't stick to anything. I used to have some Interco Truxs MT and they stuck to the road much much better.

i never had a problem with wet roads, but icy/snowy roads thats a whole different world.

I have the Toyo MTs on my truck. Great for on-road, but too hard of compound for off-road. Go with BFG KMs, can't go wrong there.

I agree with the new Goodyear MTR. You will pay 230.00 a piece for them and for that price, the only other tire that compares is the BFG KM2 which are great tires as well.

I'm currently running the KM2's and have nothing but good things to say about them. Our rig is dual use, but a third vehicle. We use it to wheel and camp and take it on long trips as well. Seems the two front runners are the BFG KM2 and the new MTR-K. Can't go wrong with either.

BFG A/T's are a stand out tire if you are looking for better on road manners. I've also had a set of Mickey Thompson MTZ's and was happy with them. Although the KM2's are noticeably better.

I am thinking of the Km2. This is also a 3rd vehicle for me as well. Thanks for all the ideas everyone. :)

I had the MickeyT MTZ in a 35" on my TJ and I had no complaints about them. They were quiet on the road and got good traction on wet/snowy roads. KM2s look very promising. I had MTRs (~32") on my Tacoma and I absolutely hated them. The traction is horrible on road (I would break my rears loose on dry pavement when turning corners if I didn't consciously try not to) and they are the noisiest tire I've ever had. I'll never run another MTR...even if they were given to me (I'd sell them and buy something worth while :D). I'm going with a BFG A/T for my next tire since my Tacoma clearly sees more onroad than offroad. :D
