Anyone familiar with the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac? Hopefully I will be needing a set of 35's (or 315's) soon and I'm looking for a durable, inexpensive tire for the Land Cruiser. If you have first-hand experience with the DuraTrac's please post up!

Looks like they can be had from Sams Club for $252 in the 315/70R17 size.-

I've been a long-time fan of the BFGoodrich AT's and I'm considering another set, but decided to look at other options first. These seem like a worthy option to consider, looking for some real world feedback.

I almost bought those for the Dodge. I did buy their sister tire, the Silent Armor and have been pretty pleased with them. FWIW, the tire store I've been going to for about 16 years recommended the Silent Armor or the Duratrac highly. (Even after my good experience with Toyo MTs)

I heard they were built specicifally for the big-box stores... and I don't think they have been getting the best rap either...

I think they are just built to be cheap, and you get what you pay for. Do a search of some truck sites and see what they have to say. I know dieselbombers dot com had some info on them.

That's what worries me, that they're just meant to be a quick & cheap offering. I want something that had a beefy sidewall, works well offroad and will last over time.

The Wrangler Authority is made specifically for Walmart. The Duratrac is the replacement for Goodyears Workhorse tire.

My boss has been running the Workhorse tires on his work trucks for many years. Others in my group have been running the Silent Armor tires with mixed results. We have a couple guys running the new Duratracs and they love them a great deal. One liked them enough to get them for his personal truck. And I want them on my work truck when it needs new tires (soon I hope!!!).

And, if it means anything, the Goodyear dealer here in Tooele has a set on his own Dodge 2500 4x4.

Everyone I've talked to loves their Duratracs, especially in the snow and snot.

I don't know about the "specifically big box store" thing, but we've sold a set with good results. Our Goodyear guy says they use a ton of them in the mining industry, on their fleet stuffs.

There's also a thread on JKOwners.com about them, with all positive feedback.

I got to rock a 3/4t Chevy in the VA "snow" with them... 5.3 underhood, 2wd. In what I would call respectably slick conditions (in upstate NY snowbelt terms, mind you), they did great. Kept me on the road and heading in the direction I wanted to go, etc.

I think they look pretty good, designwise, and I wouldn't mind a set for the Burb. But that's all I got. :D

Looked at a set for my rig and have heard nothing but good things about them. I have a buddy that runs some tire shops in Utah county, and uses them on all of his trucks. For me they are getting a little pricey on the larger sizes. I think I'm going to buy the new Dunlop MTs for my towrig and cry later. Hell, I already bought five 42' MTRs so I cant be accused of not liking goodyear tires:greg:

Greg, i was lookijng at those when they first came out but no one I talked to had run them. I bought Big-O A/T's and been very dissapointed. I will buy those then I get rid of Big-O's for my Dodge.

Interesting that Sam's has them for cheaper than Discount Tire, but Sam's price on the MT/R is higher than Discount. If you don't trust the Duratrac, you can always throw on some tried and trusted BFG A/T's for a bit more.

not sure on the dura tracs, but ive been running the silent armors on my duramax for a few years now and love them. good wet and snow traction, nie ride and good wear. All this said because i believe the duratracs are built on the same carcus.

Thanks for the info all, I may stick with BFG's simply because there's not much real-world mileage feedback yet for the DuraTrac's. BFG AT's can be had in a 315 from Discount for $220, which doesn't help the Goodyears.

You just can't go wrong with the BFG AT's. I need a set for my truck. :D

time to resurrect a dead thread. Anyone else have any real-world feedback? I've been thinking of them for my DD/crawler rig (sidekick on 33s). I've heard the Load range C tires feel a bit squirely unless inflated to 40 lbs. Anyone have any updates after running these tires for a while? How would they do on the rocks? THey look aggressive enough for the rocks, but mild enough for a daily driver tire.

I've heard good things about them from several people. My boss has a set of 33's on his JK and talks them up quite a bit. I've been contemplating them as replacements on my Samurai and for my hypothetical "bigger vehicle" that is coming this summer.

I've heard they're great on the road, how do they do for rockcrawling? I love my KM2's, but I would like something a little more street-friendly.
