TJ Clutch Problems

Okay so in the spring my clutch gave out. No big deal, I swapped it out and that should be the end, right? Wrong, 4 months ago I am driving and the clutch pedal hits the floor and all hell breaks loose. I tow it home and take it apart again, this time my Master cylinder had a crack and I lost all my fluid, and being a hot head like I am I started slamming my foot on the pedal ultimately making matters worse. Take it apart to find my throwout bearing clips busted off and really messed it up. So I replace the bearing and voila, everything runs great. Really good actually, that is until last night. I am at an intersection, go to push in the clutch and it goes right to the floor. This time I keep my cool and push it off the road. The clutch pedal is really hard so I figure maybe I have air in my line. I look in the reservoir to find it low on fluid, fill it up and pull the slave out and bleed out all the air in the line. I place my finger into the bell housing and the shift fork is wobbley and really loose feeling. I place the slave back in place and tighten it down, I get in and push in the pedal and start the Jeep. At that point I thought I was in the clear, but I push in the pedal again to shift into gear and it pops and you can hear it banging around in there.

So now that I have it at my house I am going to tear into it again this weekend and see what I have done wrong. Do any of you guys have any advice on what may be going wrong. I am getting sick of tearing this thing apart. Although I am getting pretty damn fast at taking that tranny out:D. I am shooting for an 8 hour job tomorrow. Let's see if I can hit my goal.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Get some of the throw out bearing fork clips now before you tear into it. The are a dealership only part so finding them on the weekend its a pita. http://m.quadratec.com/products/product.php?pid=52012+03 these little bastards....

When I tore into the POS the first time I did not see that anywhere in there. I looked around and there are people who say you need it and others who say it doesn't matter. But since this will be the 3rd time doing it I am going to put it in. I just got back from the stealership where that little pig just cost me $6.50. What a rip off. Let's hope it makes a difference, because if it doesn't the next time it happens that son of a bitch is going off a cliff.
Thanks man I appreciate the advice.

That stupid clip is what effed my clutch to begin worth mine failed in turn let the fork and bearing rub on the back of the clutch pack and my clutch wouldn't do squat and it made a horrid noises 6$ part turns in to a 800$ repair thanks Chrysler !
I bought 2 of the clips cause they are a pain to install and I thought out might help off me or some other poor sap got into the situation like I did

Yes you need that clip. What quality of parts are you using? I had an autozone clutch that gave me problems 6 months after install. Put a center force in and never had and issue again.

I just put in a orielly clutch and flywheel .. couldn't afford anything else at the time . I did get the new pre bled and assembled slave and cylinder from napa and it was worth all 183$

Well we will see how this one goes. I put the clip on and got a new Timken throw out bearing in instead of the crap one that came with my kit.
I must say I am getting pretty good at doing a clutch. The first time took me a few days learning everything and making sure everything was right. The second time took a little less time. It yesterday was record timing for me. I started at 1:00 in the afternoon and finished at 7:00. Would have been a little faster if I didn't have to make a store run and forgetting to remove one small bolt that was holding the trams to the engine. THat was a frustrating 45 minutes
thanks for the help and advice guys, well see how this round goes.
