TJ vs Unlimited

A little different from the other thread and I didn't want to hijack it. Does anyone know exactly how much longer the tub of an Unlimited is over a TJ? How about the wheelbase. I'm assuming those two lengths to be about the same.

I've get an extra TJ tub and I'm thinking about making my own Unlimited, only I want a stock Unlimited top to fit.

The tub is 15 inches longer. I stretched my TJ to a 106" wheelbase last summer. I just recently stretched the tub(still a work in progress but almost there). I measured from door jam to door jam and there was a 15" difference from the TJ to the Unlimited. I too wanted to use the Unlimited's soft/hard top.

A TJ's wheelbase is 93.4" or something close to that. The wheelbase of an Unlimited is 10 inches longer.

I've seen these stretched before the unlimited came out but where I have seen people stretch them is right after the door cut out before the rear wheel well. Thats you best place to make it a unlimited TJ custom because you won't have any tail hanging!

My plan is to do the stretch on wheel well itself. There's less material there to weld and more structure to reinforce. I won't add body in front of the well, but will get the Poison Spyder full corners for the Unlimted and put them on. I have those now for the TJ and feel the set I have will be easy enough to sell and replace.

I replaced the rear of an XJ body with a YJ tub, so this should be a cake walk. I'm not belittling the project but all the body lines and fender wells line up on this project where I had to improvise a lot on the other.
