toner prices

Today my Dell printer wouldn't feed paper without jamming.
I originally bought it on sale for $75.
When it ran out of toner I went to get more.
The toner was $59 and a Samsung printer was on sale for $58.
I got the Samsung printer and last week it ran out of toner.
I was going to get toner for it but the cartridge is $88 and the dell one is still $59.
I got the Dell toner and today the printer quit but with my eagle like vision I noticed that the cartridge said samsung on it.
With my keen powers of observation I compared the two cartridges and they are identical. :D
So I am now using my Samsung printer with the $59 Dell AKA Samsung cartridge.
So apparently the Dell name is worth $29 less than the Samsung name on the toner box.

It makes it hard to not look at these printers as throw away anymore because there seems to be one on sale for less than the ink or toner.
It's because most inkjets are throw-aways. That's why you buy a nice laser and never look back. :)

I bought the wifey a Epson RX680 with a bulk ink system on it. I hate replacing cartridges every month.

I have a HP 2550 Color Laser that I got used for $50. Its network ready and all. I just hate that the individual toner cartridges (one for each color) is $105 each. And right now, I need yellow and magenta... On the other hand, 3000 to 5000 prints per cartridge is pretty nice...

...and the fact that you can take 5 years to print those 3K-5K prints and your toner won't be dried out.

I got a Brother 4070 CDW color laser and permanently parked the inkjet on a shelf in the basement.
I need to get a yellow cartridge for it.
The thing I don't like is even though the black cartridge is good it won't print even in text or grayscale with one low color cartridge.
