I had a blast! I went out to Rabbit Valley, towards the UT border on I-70. It was only the 2nd time I've been out this year and the bike needed some attention before the ride. I put a new rear tire on, replaced the air filter & cleaned out the carb a bit. I was surprised at the difference, that bike MOVES now. It used to have a flat spot at more than 1/2 throttle & had a hard time pushing over 75 MPH. Now the flat spot is gone & it gets up to 84/85 MPH real quick.

I rode over 45 miles, hitting up quite a bit of technical singletrack. One of the trails I rode had some amazing scenery, riding all over a slickrock rim overlooking a valley several hundred feet below. Eventually I found a long sandy hill down into the valley & followed that. With the new-found power & rear tire w/ new tread the bike loves to lift the frontend off the ground! Wheelies just happen... it's too much fun! Makes me remember why I like this bike.

Now I just need some riding buddies... ;)

I'm not really into sport bikes to be honest with ya. I had a Suzuki streetbike in the past & while they're neat, you can't push their potential on the street. Bikes like that require a track, IMO. I love the aspect of covering all kinds of nasty terrain on my DRZ... I dropped off a 3' ledge yesterday, rode some extremely technical bouldery trails & found some killer singletrack. The fact that I can do all that out in the middle of nowhere, with nobody around for miles is what I live for. I love exploring. :D

I am thinking of adding a trail bike to my collection if I can find one for the right price...I miss bopping down the freeway and then randomly taking off on a side trail and finding a new place...Enduro riding is the shiznat!

Got any pictures of the bike, I bet that thing comes in handy when checking for potential wheeling spots

I picked up my DRZ for just over 2k, not shabby for what I got. I need to get mine plated, eventually I want to ride from Fruita to Moab in the dirt. There would have to be some pavement involved, but with the terrain & rivers, you'd have little choice but to use the road in places. There's a mtn biking trail called Kokopelli's trail that does this & with the other trails in the area, it would be easy to piece something together. I was pretty far west yesterday, I actually thought about the chance of making it to Moab. I don't think that I had enough fuel though. :-\ I do have a 4 gallon tank for the bike sitting in the garage, I just need to be better prepared, have a route planned & it would be a very good thing to have a riding partner.

I rode down 21 Road about a month ago & I kept thinking how fun that canyon would be on a 4wheeler. ;)

i can see your point there. i have never been on a single track like that maybe i need to try something like that out to broaden my horizons a bit.

One of the many reasons I have a dirtbike... ;)

Here's some pics from my ride last month, I rode up this small wash a couple miles. This wash is in the canyon west of Hunter Canyon, aka 21 Road. After riding up the canyon, I rode down 21 Road. Ended up with 60 miles on that ride, mostly 2 track.

Thats sweet, how does a bike like that handle boulders and stuff, could you do a trail like upper helldorado on that? What about supplies when your 50 miles from town and could break down?

LMK know when... this is exactly the type of stuff that has me anxious to buy a bike again. I sold my last bike to build my FJ40... now that things have slowed down a bit in life I want a bike again. Candace said "sure, as long as you find me one too" :D

I have longed of a long bike trip... one day :-\

 Get that bike & we'll plan something... mabey we can even convince Von to come! I actually talked to Cody about riding my bike on the upcoming trip you guys have been planning. Only problem would be me going 5x faster & having to wait... and no where to back my gear... and no place to put my bike if something happened... and... :D

Gear should be no issue... we will have plenty of space between us all. Having a spot for the bike could be an issue, but if you have access to one of those 2" receiver carriers, we could find a home for it? Your faster travel could be an issue, of course we could send you out to scout the upcoming trail for us :D I'd have an issue with that myself... I'm an impatient SOB. Wouldn't be bad for a one day trailride, or even an overnighter... but you might be hanging out for hours on end over a 4 day period. Reading any good books ;)

I'm pretty serious about getting a bike, likely over the winter? Our plan was to fix up and sell the FJ62 I have and sell it for enough to fund a couple of bikes for Candace and I. I really need to finish some other projects before I start a new hobby... but I miss having a bike bad!
