Topaz Mtn. U4WDA Fall Run

Topaz mtn was the site for the 2 trails run today by our group. These trails were New Helldorado and Hells Backbone. We had 11 rigs make it out there, sadly my rig quit on me at the entrance to the first trail:( So I walked for the most part, but it was still fun to see everybody and see some new trails:D Carnage including 1 steering heim sheared, 1 broken inner dana 44 shaft, 1 dana 30 stub, Steering shaft slipped out, and a couple of blown beads. Fun time though, thanks to everyone for the great time.

I stalled out on the first rock- Really the first rock. And it wouldn't restart just kept backfiring through the intake and exhaust. Like I sucked a valve or lost a piston. No surprise, I guess with how I give it the go pedal sometimes. Good news is I have a 1.6 ready to go in, Bad news is that we drove my truck and trailer in there and it loaded up fine, but on the way out my truck grabbed a rock and bent my superduty's tie rod good:ugh: It drove home fine, but it just sucks, after what happened earlier. Sweet trails though

Yep indeed, almost biffed it on one line, then adjusted to lower line and cleaned it:) Almost like he knew what he was doing

Sweet. Last time I was out there he tried that hill and almost took a spill. I guess I need more fat on me to hold the spotter strap.

I love those two trails. You gotta have more pictures.

I think the zuki motor is telling you something. Thats two for two now. Looked like a lot of fun on the trail though.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles, that's a long drive when the only thing that gets scratched and bent is the tow rig. I hope your day wasn't a total loss for you. Sounds to me like a belt/chain slipage/break issue. Did you kill the motor or did it just die?

These go to 11
We blew a tire on the trailer driving out to the trailhead. Didn't even know it till rubber was flying off in chunks. Rode on the rim for a good 5 miles I am guessing. Ran most of the first trail anticipating my short side to go "any time now". Then got locked in on a rock and tried to break free and *pop*.... long side ujoint gone. Spare short side, No spare long side. So we walked and shot some images. Andy took a little fall. And my video camera took a much larger one. So until I can get a new one and get the tape out of the old one, No vids.

Pictures Here

Yeah, fixed the ole tie rod on the S.D. today 200 bucks, that sucks more then not riding in the samurai. Thats why I have a trailer. Then got into the samurai motor, distrbutor gear slipped like in price probably due to a defected cam.

Well, that's good then at least you don't have a bunch of bent valves to worry about, but if your going to put in the other motor then it doesn't matter any ways. Sounds like next time we are going to pull that samurai to the truck instead of taking the truck to the samurai.
I was sooo sick of breaking every time I went out, always something giving me trouble. I just wore out my jeep, that's why I built the buggy.

So why did you run chainsaw? Not cool enough to break with me:p Or didn't want to get shown up so you went and hung with the yota guys:rofl:

No, haven't figured that out yet. I think I will be tearing down the front axle this week looking for the cause, but I had no trouble or noise at all this last trip.

I had a good time, always do no matter who I go wheelin with. Besided there were as many Jeeps as toys I think. I went on Chainsaw because I went out with a group of friends from our old Club, and they wanted to run Chainsaw. There was some new optional stuff at the top of Chainsaw that envolved more winching than driving that we wanted to look at but chose to pass on. I only brought out my mild steel balls, left my Titanium balls at home.
Not sure why you think I am worried about being "out done", most of the time I just want to get out and have a good time with friends, enjoy the fruits of my labor (buggy) and get away from work. Believe me I am cool enough to break with just about any one, any where, any time.:D
