Torque Wrench

no sure what you are working on but are you lucky enough to be able to convert the inch/pound spec to foot/pounds?

It has been years but I needed to do this a while back and a mechanic friend pointed it out.

What are you working on? :squint:

I was unfortunate enough to buy a Kawasaki KFX450r that had eatin too much sand. I had to have everything rebuild and now ready to put it back together. The specs for the cam cover are 106 inch pounds witch is about 9+ lbs that is too light for me to feel good enough to use the lbs torque wrench.

I got one from sears. You can also pick up a Park Tool one at mtn bike shops. I use the Craftsman one on bikes and it was cheaper.

I have to agree with you. A little time and the right tools now and you should be good for a long time. I will I had one to lend you. :D

I have a Snap On in/lbs torque wrench at work and its awesome. I had a bad experience using a ft/lbs torque wrench and converting the number when I really should have been using a wrench designed for in/lbs :\

I had the same issue with a KX250F that ate heads every 40 hours. I borrowed my dad's Snap on. He has both an inch pound and 3/8 foot pound that I have used a lot. They are really nice but at $200+ I can't justify one. I bought a 1/2" Snapon from the pawn shop for $80. It does 50-250ft#'s. You might try the pawn shops. They are really hit or miss though. Be VERY carefull putting the cam bearing caps on, even the smallest amount of dirt will eat your head and cams as you found out. Good luck.
