Hey guys im new to the ifs thing and had a few questions. I was told over on pirate that the 4runner and tacoma use differnt TREs. Is this true and what other things are differnt between the two? (1st gen tacos 3rd gen runners)

I'm 99% sure they use different TREs. They have different part numbers for them. Also, I believe a taco with manual hubs has a different TRE than a taco with add (though I could be wrong about that one).

There's lots more that's different, but the big things (front diff, steering rack, UCA, etc) are the same.

What about rims I would like to find a set of factory rims will 16 " tacoma rims fit a 4runner? And thanks for the reply.

if you ever plan on big tires and want to do the tundra brake upgrade, not all 16" wheels will clear the calipers.

Ok cool what about the 4th gen 17s will they fit? Is the tundra break a bolt on swap?

I also found a stock rack and pinion with 120k miles on it for 125 bucks. I found remans for just over 200 on line what would be the better route?

Tundra brake upgrade is pretty close to bolt on.

as long as it's a 6x5.5 bolt pattern with a big hub bore, it should "fit", but the backspacing will probably be different.

was it on a stock truck, or one that got wheeled a lot? If stock, I'd probably go with that.

The reman rack and pinions have a horrible rep. I'd risk the junkyard rack.
