...I had no idea the original motor was a Chevrolet...

Just out of high school I was working in a auto shop.... one of the old mechanics was rebuilding a F engine from an old Land Cruiser. He pulled out the new head gasket and told me that the Cruiser engine was based on a Chevy engine from the late-30's and early 40's and that the head gasket would work on both engines, GM and Toyota. He said that straight six was used because it make lots of torque and Toyota choose it because the people in the US were familiar with the engine and would more willing to buy a Japanese 4x4 with an engine they knew. Blew my mind!
