Toyota Tacoma Suspension ??

Posting this up for my brother since he has a couple of question on the new suspension that he bought for his 03 Double Cab Tacoma.

Received my OME kit for my 04 TRD 4wd. Everything looks great and very heavy. It looks like I forgot to order the diff drop or they forgot. Rear shocks haven't came in. Have Bilsteins 5125's on the back for now. Anyways I have a few questions that I hope someone could answer.

1. Where does the extra leaf go? Third row down? Why no squeak / friction pad? What kind of grease do I need? Is it alright to use the same grease as the driveline? Why is the center part of the extra leafs flat looking, not curved. What should that center pin be torqued to?

2. The + side of the leafs go toward the front, right? Also what side does A + B go?

3. Where does that 5mm trim packer go? Is it even needed?

4. Looks like the 10mm lift enhance kit sits on top of the strut assembly. I'm I correct? This should level out the truck, right?

5. Do I need to grease the bushings when installing in the leafs and shackles or is this down afterwards since their greasable? Is it alright to use the same grease that I have for the driveline?

6. What amount of for the front diff. I see 3/4 & 1". I should probably just get the one from Wheelers.

I can answer a few, and give some advice as I have recently tried to install some new leaf springs in the rear. First of all, do not use petroleum based grease on urethane bushings. Use a silicone based with PTFE (Lubrathane by Daystar) or a white lithium synthetic ( many different ones). I would lube the outside of the bushings when inserting them into the leafs. The greasable shackles grease the inside of the bushing. It looks to me that you are correct about the + sign, the shorter side ( from bushing end to center pin) goes in the front. Not sure about the extra leaf. Seems to me that there should have been installation instructions. Call whoever you bought them from for support. Tacoma leafs are left/right specific, hence the A and B markings. However, I have no idea which is which. Sorry! Not sure about the trimpacker, but the 10MM spacer does go on top of the strut. As for the diff drop, how much lift does the struts provide. I ran 2 inches of lift without any diff drop and have no problems. 3 inches is about max for the IFS frontends on the tacomas, definately should use a diff drop if your going that high. Again do not use normal grease on the urethane bushings it will cause them to fail. If you purchased this stuff from Wheelers, call them for support. They are knowlegable bunch, however they are only open mon-thurs. They do sell the lubrathane grease, it is quite expensive, but good stuff. One last thing, if you don't have new bolts for the front of the leaf springs, get them, you will probably need them. I was going to install new leafs on mine last weekend and couldn't because we couldn't get front bolts out. I will most likely cut them. There is very little clearance to get to them to press them out, especially on the drivers side, the gas tank is right there. Good luck!
