So, even though I may not fit into one because I'm so tall, I really like the looks of the 2001-2004 Toyota Tacomas, but my gawd..... these things really hold their value...

Why??

I really don't want to drive my CJ7 this winter for fear of rust...

That is all....

I love my 03 double cab. It does great in the snow, infact the only time I've ever been stuck was in my driveway a fe years back when it was iced over and then we got almost 24" of snow and I had huge drifts in my way. I was moving through it fine until I stopped to wait for my garage to open and got high centered on the drifts

This is the first vehicle I've ever owned for more than a couple years that I'm not ready to sell, and I'm still not ready.

The thing that blows my mind is so many of the tacos for sale have super high miles, but still demand higher than book value. I found my low mileage taco down in Vegas.

I absolutely love my Tacoma and plan to run it into the ground. It is a 97 and currently has 178K and I just replaced the clutch. The previous owner had his two kids drive it in high school and learned how to drive a stick so I expected to have to replace the clutch at some point. I tow a trailer with it everyday so it isn't easy driving. But the only thing besides the clutch and routine maintenance I have had to do to mine was replace a u-joint, and ball joint. I lifted it and am in no way nice to this truck and yet it has never let me down. I have owned it for 6 years now and almost none of the miles i have put on it are freeway. Yet I have complete confidence in it, and every snowstorm I always go through a half a tank of gas just because I like to play in the snow. I have only been stuck in the snow when it got high centered.

But they do hold their re-sale, I have a few friends who work at dealerships. When I was looking for a Tacoma for my brother they told me it was next to impossible for them to get a good deal on them at the auction because a lot of the larger dealerships will pay close retail or more for them. In my opinion they are worth every penny though, if you don't mind driving a small truck.
