toyota trekkers

i cant really seem to find an answer online but were trekkers made in 86? i have found a yota online that looks to be an trekker(86) but iam not sure and the owners not sure about it. it has a back seat like one, topper like one, but the major throw off is it has the 22re and its ifs still. i can post a link if someone wants to see it.

The Trekker was the prerunner to the 1st gen 4runner ('85-89).

Trekkers were not made by corporate Toyota therefore its entirely possible that they were made in small quantities after the bulk production. That said I've never seen an 86 model??

its hard to say if it is but the guy claims its pretty factory looking or professional looking

Looks like a homebrew 4runner-ish pickup.

Yep, 83 was the last year for "trekkers" then that body style of 4 runners, thats a converted truck, you can tell from the tail gate and the bed pictures, trekkers are seamless between the cab, shell, and bed.

and the rear seat has ply wood backing defiently a homebrew 4runner

Yep, bed and tailgate are definite signs of home brew. The stock front bumper needs to be removed IMO. It doesn't look too nasty overall I just wonder what the back of the cab looks like.
