Who can you trust these days to work on a toyota? My brother-n-law has a 1993 4runner that had a new engine put in it 40,000 miles ago..It started missing real bad about a month ago, so I told him to take it back to the dealer that did the engine work, Larry Miller.. They told him today that it has a dead cylinder and has other cylinders that are low on compression, most likely valves, they quoted him 2500.00 bucks on worst case fix. Does anybody know anybody that warranties there work as good a the dealers, but does better work than the dealer. Any body delt with Larry Miller before and had similar outcome as this situation? any ideas, my brother-n-law would greatly appreciate...It has the V6 in it.
Thanks, Randy

I had a carb done there years ago, they told me it was "missing parts" internally. I replyed with"you have the best parts dept in town, can you get the parts?" "Nope, you need a whole new carb 400$" So I fell for it cuz it was my DD at the time. Then it needed IM right after that, well that looked a little shady to. I know My DOA racing head didn't help with IM but me and my true mech at LARRY's Car Care talked it over the next year. It went from not passing by a mile, to passing wonderfly in like two minutes time. I know how to fudge, but in two minuts?
I highly recomend Larry's car care. Talk to Larry or doug. They farm out most of there hard toyota work, BUT DO WARENTEE IT. I plan to take my rebuilds there. They usually have hunter machine do the labor on the block if needed, he usually stands good, But I have heard stories over the years, but most never had a solid story against red(hunter).
You know my rig, thats my shop. Tell him to tell them I sent him. I'm on a first name basis, then they will be cool with him.

Do a compression test yourself before taking it anywhere. The more you know the less likely you are to be taken advantage of.
