Ballistic's housing is pretty similar too..

and so are Chrisman's, and Currie's, and Strange, etc. Look at drag cars.. and road-racing axles. There are only so many ways to make a formed sheetmetal housing, without a huge stamping mill and reeally expensive dies. :D

After reading this thread, the only thing I gathered is that sparticus19 is a dealer for both trail gear and rufstuff and wanted people to know so they will buy from him. Hmmm sounds a little fishy to me:rofl:

Even funnier is this comment, particular from a dealer:

"i guess so but this is the first major product i have noticed copied"

In other news, the world is round :p

haha i do see the irony in this all. Im was not trying to put a plug in for my self i just thought it was a strange thing but i guess from everyones comments that im simply stating the obvious so carry on.

By the way i do think trail gear has brought a lot of good things to the market and obviously they have the money to continue to do so, my real question is why didnt they at least try and design something a little more different in this case, you know make it their own?

I find this ironic that you talk about trail gear making similar products...
Didn't you and Jason build me a trail gear bumper? Or should say a marlin bumper

Trail gear is in the business of making money they sell products people want. If they sell the best quality for the best price they get business.
That's the reason I bought the bumper from you, good quailty at a great price.

I hate this argument because everybody throws trail gear under the bus, but everybody buys from them.

This is a true comments brandon i did basically make you a marlin bumper but i put a little better look to it, but it is what you wanted as do many other customers but i always try and change a few things and make it my own

I am sorry, but that was pretty funny!

TG makes great products, yes they do copy from other companies, (as I am sure they are not the only ones) but it have been said, things can only be done so many different ways. Once that happens, it is all about the price.

These new housings do look sweet, but I dont see me running them anytime soon (still too much to fully build a set)

It's cheaper to not make it their own.

So basically you put a little bend in kne of the tubes and changed one connecting points and now it's "your own"? Pretty much the exact same bumper if you ask me;) so basically you've done the same thing that trailgear has done. Changed one little thing and calling it yours... Hmmmm:rolleyes:

I added gussets for trailer chains on the hitch, did the bends a little different and the brackets were different, but like i said i made it like the customer wanted without copying it, like what has been said there is ony so many ways to do something, i did not copy trail gear and then try and sell it off as my own, it was a one off bumper, im not a multi million dollar company thank you and im not mass producing anything:D

So are you retracting this previous statement of "making it your own"? I guess I'm just a little confused? cause I'm sure those bumpers are 98% identical!;)

no i simply said i used the design but changed a few things to make it different is all. Is all i did was look at the pic and go from that i have never seen a trail-gear or marlin bumper before the customer wanted something like the trail gear bumper, if i was mass producing it, or even made more than one i would be at fault for sure but such is not the case.

It dosent really matter anymore at this point ive been thrown under the bus and ran over several times by now. Oh well everyone has their opinions nothing wrong with that
